Raipur, 22 July 2020. A person can do any work if he has the will power and passion to do something. Sarika Printing Press, which operates in Godam village of Sarangarh development block in Raigad district, presents a hallmark of this. It is special that this printing press is being run by women from the Surabhi self-help group associated with Bihaan. The work of printing press is commonly known as the field of men, but in this printing press all the work is being handled by women. All the work from designing to printing is done by women here. Bill books, pamphlets, ID and visiting cards, product stickers, brochures, indoor and outdoor advertising are prepared here.
Sarika Bharadwaj, director of Sarika Printing Press, says that she worked in the printing press as well as studying before marriage. The skills and experience learned from there are now being used in doing business of their own and employing other women. Sarika specializes in computer running various design software such as CorelDraw, PageMaker, Photoshop. She handles all the designing work herself. They also have an offset printing machine, in which printing, cutting and binding work by themselves and with other women in the group.
She is also providing regular employment to 5 women from the printing press. After deducting all the payments and expenses, they receive a net income of 15 thousand rupees. Sarika wants to expand her printing press to a larger dimension like a printing factory in future, so that more people can get employment. They believe that the present time is different than before. Women are more educated than before and many opportunities exist for their self-reliance with various schemes of governance. In such a situation, they should try to get out of the boundary of the house and become capable of themselves.
