Durg. After a long wait, the first IIT (Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai) built in Chhattisgarh is about to be inaugurated. Which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The date for this has also been finalized. The Secretary of the Ministry of Education has also sent a letter in this regard. According to the letter, PM Modi will virtually inaugurate the IIT on February 20. CM Vishnu Dev Sai will be present in the IIT campus at the inauguration ceremony.
Campus spread over 358 acres
The campus of IIT Bhilai is built on 358 acres. In the first phase, the campus has been prepared at a cost of Rs 878 crore. Which is state-of-the-art and eco-friendly. All facilities including classrooms, hostels, labs, auditorium, library, staff hostel, are available in the campus. Classes have also started from this session. Currently 700 students from other states including Chhattisgarh are studying in IIT Bhilai.
Let us tell you that earlier this campus was located in Sejbahar Engineering College, Raipur. But now with the construction of this state-of-the-art campus, the number of students and research scholars will increase here. The students here are already doing research on many subjects.
The date has been postponed three times
Before this, the date for the inauguration of IIT has been changed thrice. It was to be inaugurated in May last year. But due to delay of L&T Company the work could not be completed. Due to which the launch date got postponed.
