Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai had announced yesterday to be a dry day on the day of Shri Ramlala Pran Pratistha in Ayodhya.

There will be a dry day in Chhattisgarh on 22nd January on the occasion of the consecration of Shri Ramlala in Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai had announced yesterday that dry day would be observed on this important occasion. In compliance with this, the Excise Department has issued instructions today. It is noteworthy that yesterday the Chief Minister had said in his video message that it is our good fortune that Chhattisgarh is the maternal birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. The consecration of Shri Ramlala is to take place on January 22 in Ayodhya. Due to this, there is an atmosphere of enthusiasm across the country and in Chhattisgarh. Keeping in view the public faith, this day will be declared dry day in Chhattisgarh.
In the order issued, all the country liquor and foreign liquor retail shops, restaurant-bars, hotel-bars, clubs etc. located in the state like – FL-1 (GDH), FL-1 (GHG-Composite), C.S. 2(DDG), CS-2(DDG-Composite), FL 2. 3. 3(ABG)4. 4(a). 5, 5(a). 6, 7, 8, 9, 9(a) and C.S. 1-B, C.S. 1-C, FL 10, 10(A.B.) In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (1) of Section 24 of Chhattisgarh Excise Act, 1915 to keep all the shops of Bhag/Bhagghota closed, ‘ Instructions have been given to all the collectors to declare ‘dry day’.
Also, instructions have been given not to allow any liquor shop, hotel, restaurant, club etc. and any other establishment/person who sells or serves liquor to sell or serve liquor during the ‘dry day’. Non-proprietary clubs, restaurants, star hotels etc. and hotels run by anyone have also been instructed not to allow selling and serving of liquor on the ‘dry day’ declared as above. During the said period, instructions have been given to strictly ban personal storage of liquor and storage of liquor in unlicensed premises and take action to confiscate them.
Besides, all the district offices and divisional and state level flying squads have been asked to take effective steps to prevent transportation and sale of illegal liquor. For this, an investigation team has been formed and asked to investigate the possible locations and vehicles of illegal liquor storage and to register crimes against the culprits. It has been asked to strictly follow the instructions related to dry day.
