In view of the nationwide strike of truck drivers, ensure that the general public does not face any problem, Collector-SP – Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai gave instructions

In view of the nationwide strike by truckers, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has directed senior officials and Collectors-SPs of all the districts to ensure that there is no shortage of essential commodities for the general public. He reviewed the ground situation regarding the availability of essential commodities to the general public in the state due to the strike by truckers through video conferencing. The Chief Minister said that if the public faces problems in getting essential commodities and due to this the law and order situation deteriorates, the responsibility of the Collector-SP will be fixed. Divisional Commissioners, Inspector General of Police along with Collectors and SPs of the districts participated in this VC held from Mahanadi Bhawan of the Ministry.
The Chief Minister said that correct information should reach the common people and misleading news should not spread. Action should be taken against those spreading rumours. Officials should inquire about the availability of petrol, diesel, medicines, fruits, vegetables, grains and ensure its continuous supply. Police should patrol continuously and keep an eye on the situation. A control room should be created at the state and district level which will operate 24 hours. Immediate action should be taken if the supply of any essential item is disrupted. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the administration should talk to all the stockholders and see whether hoarding is taking place.
In view of the sudden strike by the transporters, Chief Minister Shri Sai has given instructions to continue the transportation of petrol, diesel and LPG and other essential commodities in the state and ensure supply.
It was also said that the Revenue, Police and Food Department staff should be put on duty for the entry and exit of vehicles in the petroleum-diesel depots and LPG depots operated in the state so that no disruption can be caused. He directed that the transportation of petroleum-diesel and LPG service vehicles should not be disrupted in any district of the state. He instructed to make necessary arrangements at all toll points and outposts. Besides, instructions have also been given to form a district level monitoring team with oil company officials for smooth availability and distribution of petrol, diesel and domestic LPG.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Mr. Ashok Juneja, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Manoj Kumar Pingua, Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. P. Dayanand, Food Secretary Mr. Topeshwar Verma and Director Food Mr. Jitendra Shukla and other officers were present.
