People are troubled by the movement of trucks in residential areas in Raipur. On Saturday, people demonstrated in Santoshi Nagar Chowk regarding this. Due to the movement of trucks, road accidents are continuously taking place due to which angry people have demanded to declare Bhathagaon Road and Santoshi Nagar Road as no entry zone.
People of Bhathagaon and Santoshi Nagar demonstrated on the road leading from Santoshi Nagar Chowk to Old Dhamtari. People said that this year more than 6 deaths have occurred due to being hit by heavy vehicles. In the same month, an elderly man had died after being hit by a highway. ‘Trucks are coming on this route to save diesel’
The protesting people said that before this we have given memorandum to the collector many times but the district administration is not taking cognizance of the deaths due to road accidents. Walking on the road of Bhathagaon and Santoshi Nagar is not without danger. The movement of trucks should be stopped in this area. People said that to save diesel, drivers of heavy vehicles are using the old Dhamtari Road. School going children have to leave half an hour earlier to go to school. There is a fear of road accidents every day, the collector will take a decision after inspection.
Traffic Additional SP Sachin Choubey told Dainik Bhaskar that the order to declare no entry zone is given by the district administration. When Raipur Collector Sarveshwar Bhure was talked to, he said that an inspection will be conducted in this regard. Public safety is the first priority. We will go to the road and inspect. A decision will be taken after inspection.

Five days before the demonstration in the capital Raipur, a woman had died in a road accident in Santoshi Nagar. A woman riding a bike with her husband was hit by a truck, after which the woman got trapped in the wheel of the truck. After this, the truck dragged the woman for a long distance due to which she died on the spot. The woman had come with her husband to meet her brother-in-law. In front of Shubham Mart in Dhamtari Road, a speeding truck hit the bike riding couple hard from behind. Due to this collision, the balance of the bike got disturbed and both of them fell down, during this the woman came under the rear wheel of the truck. In this accident, the woman’s saree got stuck in the wheel of the truck. After this, the truck dragged the woman on the road for 50 meters.
