The first day of the winter session of Chhattisgarh Assembly on Tuesday was full of laughter and fun. Swearing in of newly elected MLAs and Assembly Speaker took place. While former Assembly Speaker Dr. Charan Das Mahant hummed a song, the MLAs narrated old stories, during which the House echoed with laughter.
Protem Speaker Ramvichar Netam requested CM Vishnudev Sai and Charandas Mahant to bring Dr. Raman Singh to Asandi with respect. Both the leaders reached Raman Singh. He shook hands and congratulated him and started taking him forward. During this time ‘our friendship used to irritate everyone’
The Protem Speaker handed over the chair to Raman Singh. After this, Dr. Mahant, who was elected Leader of Opposition, said that we have also elected you by supporting you. Giving support shows our values. I have known you a long time. You were an MP, we both were MPs. We both had good friendship in the house, this used to irritate everyone.
‘Don’t try to take advantage of friendship’
Hearing this, Deputy CM Arun Sao said, do not try to take too much advantage of friendship. After this all the MLAs started laughing. Then Charan Das Mahant said that many people had noticed our friendship. Then Kawasi Lakhma said, especially Ajay Chandrakar… Congress MLAs said – take him properly and everyone in the House started laughing. Then Mahant sang the old song.
Mahant further said that let me remind you one thing. I want to remind you of an old song, ‘Woh jo hum mein tum mein karar tha, tumhe yaad ho nahi ho…’ As soon as Mahant sang it, Dr. Raman started laughing loudly. Then Mahant said, as per our agreement, we have given you a place, you did not think about yourself.
Lakhma said- don’t talk nonsense
Former minister Kawasi Lakhma stood up to congratulate Raman Singh. As soon as he started speaking, Ajay Chandrakar said, first tell me, Lakhma ji, how many people have you dealt with? With this, laughter once again echoed in the house. Lakhma laughed in response and said – Don’t talk nonsense. Let me speak a little, friend.’
Ajay Chandrakar again said to Lakhma – I am speaking after drinking Ganga water, say so. On this Lakhma replied that I am not from Gangajal, I am from local Mahua. After this everyone started laughing, banging the table. Chandrakar again asked what are you… Laughing, Lakhma said – Let me speak a little, friend.
Vishnudev is more gentleman than you
Lakhma said to Raman Singh, never seen you getting angry. We wanted you to sit there (where CM Sai was sitting), but the people from above made you sit here. It is not our fault in this. Raman Singh started smiling at this.
Lakhma further said that the people of Chhattisgarh wanted the Chief Minister to be a tribal. Vishnudev is more gentleman than you, I congratulate him. Now we will talk about the tribal side. Earlier, Brijmohan Aggarwal, Rajesh Munat, Ajay Chandrakar used to talk more, reduce it a little. Raman said – will have to work as a parent.
Dr. Raman Singh said that the impartiality of the Speaker in the House is not equal to the neutrality of a judge. He has to act as a guardian in the house. One has to behave like the head of a joint family. Everyone has to be taken along. It will be my endeavor that everyone gets this kind of opportunity, so that they can bring out their best for this state.
