Mungeli. Major action has been taken by the district administration team after receiving complaints of illegal soil excavation in Gram Panchayat Bharuvaguda and village Chichesra of Mungeli tehsil of the district. Under the guidance of Collector Rahul Dev, the team of Police and Mineral Department was immediately dispatched under the leadership of SDM Mungeli Akanksha Shiksha Khalkho. Action was taken against M/s Kanhaiya Lal Aggarwal contractor involved in illegal excavation work and a penalty of more than Rs 5 lakh 27 thousand was imposed. About 20 feet deep excavation of soil was found on the spot. Illegal excavation of 02 thousand 270 cubic meters of soil was found from Gram Panchayat Bharuvaguda and 240 cubic meters of soil from dependent village Chichesra. In this way, a total of 2 thousand 510 cubic meters of soil was illegally excavated from both the villages. The Mineral Department assessed the area and imposed a fine. The joint team of Administration, Police and Mineral Department seized Haiwa vehicle number MH40 CH 3291 carrying soil from Sheetal Kunda on the spot. 01 Haiwa has also been seized on the spot. The vehicle owner has been informed about this. Action is being taken by the RTO against the vehicles involved in excavation under the Vehicle Act. PWD has issued a notice asking for royalty clearance from the concerned contractor and further action is still going on.
