Since the Model Code of Conduct for Assembly General Elections-2023 came into effect in the state till November 9, illegal money and items worth Rs 66 crore 88 lakh have been seized. This includes cash amount of Rs 18 crore 13 lakh.
According to the information received from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, during the monitoring by the enforcement agencies till last 9th November, 47 thousand 846 liters of illicit liquor has been seized, worth Rs 1 crore 37 lakh. Besides, other intoxicants worth Rs 4 crore 7 lakh have also been seized. During the intensive investigation operation, 493 kg of precious jewelery and gems worth Rs 20 crore 57 lakh have also been seized. Apart from these, other materials worth Rs 22 crore 74 lakh have also been seized.
Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale has issued necessary guidelines to all the District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police regarding taking necessary action to maintain law and order during the Assembly General Election-2023. In compliance with these guidelines, illegal transportation and storage of money and goods is being closely monitored through various enforcement agencies in the state. Under the Model Code of Conduct applicable in the state, the process of intensive investigation by the monitoring teams is going on continuously.
