63 accused arrested in case of illegal transportation and sale of liquor

In view of the Assembly Elections – 2023, strict adherence to the election code of conduct is being ensured in Raipur district under the guidance of Collector and District Election Officer Shri Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure. The Excise Department team is keeping a strict vigil on illegal transportation, storage and sale of liquor in the district. Since the implementation of the Code of Conduct for Assembly elections in the state, 468 liters of liquor and 10 two-wheelers have been seized from various places and persons in connection with illegal transportation and sale of liquor in Raipur district. In the said case, a total of 62 cases have been registered under various sections of the Excise Act and 63 accused have been arrested. The value of the seized liquor is Rs 2.86 lakh and the value of the seized two-wheeler is Rs 4.24 lakh. Telephone number 0771-2428201 has been issued for filing complaints to prevent illegal sale, transportation and possession of liquor and intoxicants in the district and apart from this, any common citizen can register a complaint on the toll free number 14405 issued by the Excise Department.
