Omveer, 52, from Haryana, was admitted to Shri Narayana Hospital in Devendra Nagar, Raipur, complaining of severe arthritis for the last few months. Along with swelling in both his knees, there was always severe unbearable pain on the inside, due to which he had to take someone’s help while walking, climbing stairs and even in doing his daily routine tasks.

After bringing the patient to Shri Narayana Hospital, in the initial tests, he was diagnosed with “Bilateral Medial Compartment Osteoarthritis”. Medically, there are three compartments in the knee and generally it has been observed that with increasing age, arthritis occurs in 70% of the cases. Initially both the remaining compartments also get damaged.

After finding only one internal compartment damage in this patient’s knees, Robotic Knee Replacement Surgeon Dr. Pritam Agarwal decided to perform Chhattisgarh’s first “Half Knee Robotic Knee Replacement Surgery” using “Robotic Partial Knee Replacement Technique”. It is noteworthy that in “Robotic Total Knee Replacement Surgery” all three compartments are replaced, whereas in this state-of-the-art “Robotic Partial Knee Replacement Surgery” only the damaged compartment is replaced. With this technique, the robot has replaced the knees of patient Omveer. By making a small incision, 30% of the damaged part of the knee was replaced and the implant was fixed. The remaining 70% part was not even touched, due to which both the natural sensation and biomechanics of the knees were automatically maintained, due to which movement in the patient’s legs started within four hours of the surgery and from the next day. His walking, climbing and descending stairs etc. started as before and now he is enjoying a pain free life.

Dr. Pritam Aggarwal told that this surgery was done by the fully automatic robotic system of CUVIS company. At present, due to continuous improvement in the technology of this segment, the life of the joints of partial knee replacement and the life of the joints of total knee replacement are the same. It has become equal.

Managing Director of Shri Narayana Hospital, “Dr. Sunil Khemka” said that we are determined to provide the best health facilities to the arthritis patients of our state Chhattisgarh and by assimilating the latest technology prevalent all over the world. We are forever committed to use , so that our patients can enjoy living a completely pain free life. More than 50 Aggarwal doctors served in the medical camp.
