Establishment of ethanol plant will increase employment opportunities

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel today inaugurated the state’s first sugarcane based ethanol plant at a cost of Rs 141 crore through video conferencing from his residence office. Forest and Climate Change Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar was specially present along with the Chief Minister on the occasion of inauguration. The state government has established the state’s largest and first sugarcane based ethanol plant in Kabirdham district. The ethanol plant has been established in 35 acres of vacant plot of Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory. It is noteworthy that agriculture based ethanol industry is the dream project of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel.
P.P.P. This is the first model in the entire country to establish an ethanol plant.
Agriculture based ethanol plant is among the priority schemes of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel. The contract regarding the establishment of the country’s first ethanol plant established through PPP model has been signed between Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory and N.K.J., a subsidiary of Chhattisgarh Distillery Limited. It has been done between Biofuel Limited. The establishment of the ethanol plant will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities in the area and will strengthen the basis of economic prosperity in the area. Timely payment of sugarcane price to farmers will be ensured. With the formation of the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, the issues related to farmers have been of paramount importance, first of all agricultural loans were waived and keeping in mind the interest of sugarcane farmers, PPP model was adopted for permanent solution of the economic difficulties of sugar factories. MD of Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory, Mr. Bhupendra Thakur said that the ethanol plant is of hybrid technology, in which ethanol will be made directly from sugarcane juice during the sugarcane crushing season and from molasses during the off season. Due to diversion of sugarcane juice into ethanol, more juice will be required and to fulfill it, more and more sugarcane will be purchased from farmers. The construction of the ethanol plant will ensure timely payment of sugarcane price to the farmers.
