Increased awareness among students regarding ozone layer

On the occasion of International Ozone Layer Protection Day, Chhattisgarh Environment Protection Board organized an Envirothon competition today at the new rest house in the capital Raipur. The theme of this competition, organized with the aim of making college and school students aware about environmental protection and the importance of ozone layer, was based on “Solutions for the utilization of waste”. Along with this, a poster making competition was also organized based on the theme of improving ozone layer and reducing climate change. School students showed curiosity about the program and displayed their creativity on various relevant topics related to it. The winners of the competition were presented to the participants by Chief Engineer of Chhattisgarh Environment Protection Board, Mr. R.P. Tiwari and Kalinga University Vice Chancellor Dr. R. Shridhar distributed prizes to the winning students.

    Addressing the students, Vice Chancellor of Kalinga University, Dr. R. Shridhar said that we have to change our lifestyle to ensure that the substances that damage the ozone layer are gradually eliminated. Protection of ozone layer will cause great harm to the environment and it will have direct and indirect effects on human society. It is the responsibility of the future generation to always strive for environmental protection and promotion and play its role in this direction.

    First position in Envirothon competition was won by Swarnim and team of class 10th and 12th, Rajkumar College, Raipur and Ku. Kashish Tandi and team, Rani Durgavati Higher Secondary School, Raipur and in the graduating class, Mr. Mokshraj Sahu, Badri Prasad Lodhi P.G. In college, academic and post graduate classes, Ms. Poonam Singh, Indira Gandhi National Open University.
