On the invitation of the Chief Minister, women in traditional costumes participated in the event with enthusiasm.

Teeja Pora Tihar was celebrated with great pomp at the Chief Minister’s residence today. On the invitation of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, thousands of women in traditional costumes reached the Chief Minister’s residence to celebrate Teeja-Pora. On this occasion, the Chief Minister’s residence was decorated in traditional Chhattisgarhia style. On the occasion of Teeja-Pora Tihar, all the rituals were performed for the women and sisters in the Chief Minister’s residence, from feeding them Karu Bhaat to dressing up and farewell. An attractive temple of Lord Mahadev was prepared for the worship along with arrangements of mehendi and makeup. The women present there including the Chief Minister performed puja. For Karu Bhaat, bitter gourd gram curry, kadhi along with thethari, khurmi, bada, sohari and other Chhattisgarhi dishes were arranged.

A group of Chhattisgarhi folk artists created a unique event with Chhattisgarhi songs and music. Women danced vigorously on songs like ‘Tija Pora Ke Tihar Bahini Neek Laage Mor and Gada Gada Johar…’. There was an arrangement of Raichuli swing near the main gate, which the women enjoyed immensely. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel also enjoyed the Raiculi swing with his family while encouraging the women. Mothers and sisters looked excited to take selfies with the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister’s residence decorated in traditional Chhattisgarhian style
Teeja-Pora The entire Chief Minister’s residence was grandly decorated in traditional style for the Tihar program. The program premises were decorated with symbols of Chhattisgarhi rural culture and life including Teeja-Pora festival. The main gate was decorated with traditional Nandiya Baila of Pora festival. The gallery was given an attractive look by colorful fringes. The walls were decorated with panoramic paintings related to rural culture. Chhattisgarhi traditional jewelery was also displayed here.
Women got excited after applying Mehndi on their hands and Mahur on their feet.
Arrangements were made in the Chief Minister’s residence to apply Mehndi on the hands of mothers and sisters and Mahur on their feet. It is believed that when the daughter comes to her maternal home, she participates in the festival of Teeja by dressing up in a similar manner. Women looked excited to get Mehndi and Mahur applied and a different smile was seen on their faces which made the atmosphere more beautiful.
