1429 small and big factory restarted.
Raipur, 06 June 2020 . About 2 lakh 63 thousand workers of Chhattisgarh stranded in other states have returned safely due to the circumstances arising out of the lockdown applied for prevention of Novel Corona Virus (Kovid-19) infection. On the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel, these migrant workers who have returned from other states are being provided employment in rural areas under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA). More than 23 lakh laborers are getting employment in the state, including the registered and migrant laborers under MNREGA.
Labor Minister Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahria told here today that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the trapped laborers in other states are being safely brought back to Chhattisgarh. As on June 4, more than 2 lakh 63 thousand workers and other passengers have returned to Chhattisgarh through labor special trains, buses and other vehicles by the state government. So far 81 thousand migrant workers have been brought back to Chhattisgarh through 59 trains. About 3 crore 98 lakh rupees have been spent by Chhattisgarh Bhawan Sannirman Mandal for trains and buses. Apart from this, 3 crore 90 lakh rupees have also been released by the Mandal to the District Collectors to help the distress workers.
Dr. Dahria said that due to the country-wide lockdown, several important steps were taken by the state government to return the workers, students and people in need of medical care in Chhattisgarh trapped in other states. Online registration has been made for the return of migrant workers and others of Chhattisgarh. He informed that 15 thousand 767 workers trapped in other districts within Chhattisgarh state have been sent safely to their home district, while 28 thousand 450 workers from other states trapped in Chhattisgarh have been safely sent back to their home state.
Labor Minister Dr. Dahria informed that 17 lakh 677 laborers of Chhattisgarh stranded in other states during lockdown have been deposited Rs 66 lakh 73 thousand in their accounts for the purpose of providing food, ration, medical etc. and providing immediate relief. In the activities and industrial areas exempted by the state government, work has started in one thousand 429 factories and employment has been provided to more than one lakh 5 thousand workers.
Chhattisgarh State Nodal Officer and Labor Secretary, Mr. Sonamani Bora and other officials are constantly contacting the officers and employers of the respective states to diagnose the problems of workers and arrange for the safe return of workers of Chhattisgarh. He said that as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, continuous efforts are also being made to provide employment to the workers in the state. More than 23 lakh 3 thousand laborers are getting employment under MNREGA. Through 42 clinics operated by the State Employees Insurance Services (ESI), 78 thousand 822 workers have been provided free treatment and medicines. A 24-hour helpline center is operated at the state level to help migrant workers and citizens.
