Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel today performed the bhoomi pujan of the new integrated hospital building with 700 bed capacity at Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, Raipur. The construction of a modern well-equipped hospital building for the hospital affiliated to the medical college at a cost of Rs 322 crore will start soon. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel also inaugurated the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the college at the Medical College Auditorium. Exactly 60 years ago, on 9 September 1963, the Government Medical College of Raipur was established. Deputy Chief Minister and Health and Medical Education Minister Shri T.S. Singhdev, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Vikas Upadhyay, Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Chairman Dr. Pritam Ram, Chhattisgarh Housing Board President Shri Kuldeep Juneja, MLA Shri Satyanarayan Sharma, Mayor Shri Ejaz Dhebar,

While addressing the Bhoomi Pujan program and the inauguration ceremony of Diamond Jayanti, Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel said that Raipur Medical College and its affiliated hospital have to be developed as per the needs of today. He congratulated and congratulated all the professors, staff, students and alumni of the Medical College on completing 60 years. He said that we all have to work together to increase the reputation of this medical college and hospital in the coming years. 

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that there has been a significant increase in health services in the state in the last five years. Both the scope and quality of health facilities have increased. People’s trust in government hospitals has increased. Free health facilities have reached even the people of remote areas. People are getting free treatment, tests and medicines through government hospitals. The Chief Minister said that the health machinery of Chhattisgarh is ready to deal with every crisis. During the global pandemic Corona, our doctors, nurses and other medical staff have proved this by doing better work. He said that the spread of malaria and diarrhea in remote areas like Bastar and Surguja is now a thing of the past. Our Malaria Free Chhattisgarh campaign has resulted in a significant reduction in malaria cases.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri T.S. Addressing the program, Singhdev said that the 60 years of journey of Raipur Medical College has been wonderful. The hospital associated with this is a great hope for the people of the state. Asia’s most advanced machinery is also available here. Today the bhoomi pujan of the new hospital building has taken place, soon the time for its inauguration will come. Expressing his gratitude towards the Chief Minister, he said that despite being unwell, he was present in the program. The Chief Minister has given more than what he has asked for for the health department. Shri Singhdev said that approval has been received for Genome Sequencing Lab in Raipur Medical College.

Additional Chief Secretary of Medical Education Department, Smt. Renu ji. Pillay said in the program that Raipur Medical College is the largest tertiary care hospital in the state. In view of the continuously increasing number of patients here, the need for a well-equipped integrated hospital building was being felt for a long time. After the Bhoomi Pujan today, its construction will start soon. Dean Dr. Trupti Nagaria, in her welcome speech, gave information about the 60 years of journey of Raipur Medical College. He told that its journey started on this day in 1963 with 60 students. Now there are 230 MBBS seats and 150 PG seats. He informed that the capacity of the hospital affiliated to the medical college has increased from 700 beds to 1248. With the increase of 700 beds in the new integrated hospital building, the number of beds here will increase to around two thousand. This will be the only hospital in Central India with a capacity of two thousand beds. With increased facilities in hospitals, people will get better treatment.

Dean Dr. Nagriya thanked Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and the state government for the Bhoomi Pujan of the new hospital building on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the college. He said it is like getting a gift on a birthday. He informed that the main function of Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated on 23rd December and 24th December this year. A large number of college alumni serving in the country and abroad will participate in it. Co-Chairman of Diamond Jubilee Organizing Committee Dr. Lalit Shah, Secretary Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Treasurer Dr. Anil Jain and Superintendent of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital Dr. S.B.S. Professors of Raipur Medical College including Netam, officials and members of the organizing committee and a large number of students were present in the program.

Modern health facilities will be available to the people of the state in the new integrated hospital building. Keeping in mind the convenience of the patients, all the necessary basic facilities will be provided in this complex. This is a big step by the state government in the direction of providing the benefits of state-of-the-art health facilities to the people of the state. With its construction, the citizens of the capital will be able to get the facility of a modern super specialty hospital.
This 700 bed hospital to be built in Dr. Bhimrao Smriti Chikitsalaya Raipur will have seven floors apart from basement floor, lower ground floor and ground floor. In this hospital, patients will get all the facilities of super specialty hospital. This integrated new hospital building will be constructed in 70 thousand 896 square meters. Provision for fire fighting system, HVAC system, IBMS system etc. has been made in the building. The basement floor of the building will be 8828 square meters, ground floor will be 7500 square meters, first floor to fifth floor will be 7274 square meters, sixth floor with atrium roof structure will be 8728 square meters, seventh floor will be 640.57 square meters. The foundation has been designed in such a way that in future the seventh floor and eighth floor can be developed as per the need.
