The remand of ASI Chandrabhushan Verma, Satish Chandrakar, businessmen Anil Dammani and Sunil Dammani, who were caught in the online betting app case, has been extended by 7 days. On the other hand, the defense counsel has accused the ED of assault and pressurizing the ED to name some IAS and IPS, including those close to the CM, and has demanded security.
Explain that after the remand of the four accused arrested in the case was over, they were produced in the court of Special Judge Ajay Singh Rajput. The defense counsel has alleged that constant pressure is being put on the accused through physical assault and threats. So that they take names like Saumya Chaurasia, Vijay Bhatia, Suraj Kashyap, Manish Verma, Ashish Verma, Anil Tuteja, Dilip Verma, Laxminarayan Bansal, Anand Chhabra, Arif Sheikh, Abhishek Maheshwari, Prashant Agarwal, Sanjay Dhruv, Prashant Thakur, Abhishek Pallav. Apart from these, there is an allegation of pressurizing the names of other officers and employees related to the Chief Minister’s residence.
Raipur and Bhilai were raided and arrested
ED had conducted raids in two districts of the state, Raipur and Durg. In which lawyers, police, transporters, CAs and land traders have been taken under their grip. According to the information given to the press by the ED, ASI Chandrabhushan Verma has been named as the chief liaison in Chhattisgarh. Chandrabhushan was taking huge amount every month through hawala from Dubai promoters and distributing it to senior police officers and according to ED, people politically connected to the Chief Minister’s office were also being given ‘protection money’.
ED’s investigation so far has revealed that around Rs 65 crore in cash has been received. Which was received by Chandrabhushan Verma and distributed to senior police officers and politicians. ED has informed making serious allegations that ASI Chandrabhushan Verma was not in a very big post in the police. But he managed to impress the senior officials here with his connections with CM’s advisor Vinod Verma and the bribe money sent by Ravi Uppal.
ED says that, ASI Verma has accepted that he was taking and paying huge amount of bribe every month from many powerful people. Along with this, Verma has also accepted that after some police action in May 2022, the amount of bribe was also increased. The amount of bribe was increased to reduce cases and limit the action to local bookies and to prevent any action in future. The accused have also named big officials in this case, especially those associated with the CMO, who have been paid huge bribes on a monthly or regular basis.
