making income by making content

Under Waste-to-Wonder by Swachhata didis, door-to-door collected garbage is earning additional income by making decorations and household items. People’s homes are now being decorated with the materials made by Swachhta Didis from Waste-to-Wonder.
Useful and decorative items can be made from the garbage collected door-to-door by the sanitation sisters and additional income can also be made. If you want to see or learn this skill, you will have to come to Berla block of Bemetara district, about 75 km from Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Sanitation sisters are doing door-to-door garbage collection daily in Nagar Panchayat Berla of the district. Under Waste to Wonder, home furnishings and useful items such as doormats, curtains, covers, mats, bags, etc. are being made from the clothes received during garbage collection by these sisters. They are also selling by setting up stalls in the local market as per the demand. Due to this they are getting extra income.
It is worth mentioning that instead of making useful and decorative items from the waste available in the house, most of the people find it easiest and best for them to throw them away. A lot of garbage is generated daily at home. Such as torn clothes, coconut shells, old newspapers, glass jars, plastic bottles and cardboard boxes etc. All of these can also be used to decorate the interiors in a creative way. Waste-out-of-waste simply means making something new and attractive from materials that are of no use. Making something new out of old and recycling is one of the best ways to reduce one’s carbon footprint. Anyone can decorate their home with items made from waste. Women are carrying out the works of door to door garbage collection and waste management very well. Women are also doing the work of separating dry and wet waste and making compost through vermicompost.
