Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel performed Bhumi Pujan at the headquarters of the District Cooperative Central Bank in Durg today. Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that with the construction of the headquarters building of the District Cooperative Central Bank, the functioning of cooperative banks would be conducted in a more systematic manner. With the inauguration of 25 RIDF godowns, the storage capacity of the district will increase. With the inauguration of 7 ATMs, public facilities will expand in the banking sector. In the last five years, the cooperative sector has contributed a lot in terms of agriculture and rural development in Chhattisgarh. Mr. Baghel said that traditional business has to be made profitable, whether it is in the field of education, employment and health, work is being done in all areas.
With the participation of co-operative banks and the strength of co-operatives, the results we have achieved in just five and a half years are becoming examples in the country. Be it the development of farmers, strengthening of rural economy, success has been achieved in every field. We have been successful in creating maximum employment opportunities in Chhattisgarh only through co-operatives.

Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, which directly benefits farmers in the state, we have paid input subsidy of more than Rs 20,000 crore through cooperative banks in a quarter to five years. With the implementation of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, paddy production and cultivation area have increased every year. Every year we have created a new record of paddy procurement. Last year we bought 107 lakh 53 thousand metric tonnes of paddy. Paddy purchase limit has been increased from 15 quintals per acre to 20 quintals per acre. Including Kodo-Kutki-Ragi in the purview of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, they are also being procured through Vanopaj Sahakari Sangh.
Fisheries and Lac rearing have also been given the status of agriculture. Like common farmers, fish farmers and lac farmers are also now taking advantage of facilities like agricultural loans and subsidized electricity at zero percent interest. We have also succeeded in changing the direction of our economy through cooperatives. The economy which earlier used to flow from cities to villages, today it is flowing from villages to cities. From increasing the production of milk to increasing the production of paddy, we have got success in setting new records.

Expansion of banking facilities and rural development are directly related to each other. In the last five and a half years, we have continuously expanded the banking facilities. Efforts have been made to provide the facilities of withdrawal and payment to the farmer brothers close to their homes and villages. This is saving time and money of the farmer brothers. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel extended advance greetings and best wishes to all the residents of Durg district on the occasion of Independence Day.

On this occasion, School Education and Cooperative Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey said that it is a matter of happiness that the bank headquarter building is being constructed in the district. Farmers’ work is being done through the bank. The economic condition of the farmers improved through the bank. His self-esteem has risen. In five years, one lakh 75 thousand crore rupees have been put in the bags of the farmers.

Cooperation Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey, Home Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu, Housing and Environment Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, District Cooperative Central Bank Maryadit Durg Authorized Officer Mr. Rajendra Sahu and other officers and public representatives were present in the programme.
