Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the state, especially the people of tribal society, on World Tribal Day. In his message issued on the eve of World Tribal Day, the Chief Minister has said that World Tribal Day is celebrated on August 09 all over the world to protect tribal tribes and promote their rights. Being a tribal-dominated state, Chhattisgarh has inherited a priceless heritage of ancient art and culture of the tribes. The Government of Chhattisgarh is committed to preserve the ancient heritage and culture of the tribals and bring them into the mainstream. Every possible effort is being made by the state government to provide all the necessary civic facilities and all the means to move forward to the tribal population living close to nature.
Mr. Baghel said that keeping in view the development and interest of the tribals, the state government has taken many important decisions. Return of 4200 acres of tribal land in Lohandiguda, formation of a committee to review the cases of tribals lodged in jails, decision to improve the standard of living of tribals with the amount of District Mineral Trust, establishment of Staff Selection Board in Bastar and Surguja and here Efforts are on to do better work for the tribal society by appointing a local president in tribal development authorities. He has said that the schemes made keeping in mind the needs and expectations of the tribal society have made their lives easier. To increase tendu leaves collection rate from Rs.2500 to Rs.4000 per standard bag, Along with collection and sale of 67 types of minor forest produce at the support price, their processing and value addition at the local level has increased the income of thousands of tribals. With the effective implementation of the Forest Rights Act, the state government has strengthened the rights of tribals over water, forest and land. With the receipt of forest rights pattas, the concerns of thousands of tribals about their housing and livelihood have been removed.
The Chief Minister said that the Chhattisgarh government is constantly making efforts to give a new dimension to the cultural heritage of the tribals. In order to introduce the tribal culture to the country and the world, events like the National Tribal Dance Festival have been started in the state. A general holiday has been declared on World Tribal Day. The state government is doing the work of saving and beautifying primitive life values by conserving and promoting Devgudis and Ghotuls. In the last four and a half years, Devguri Thakurdev and Cultural Center, Ghotul Nirman, The amount given under the repair scheme has been increased significantly by five times. Along with this, Adivasi Parab Samman Nidhi Yojana has been started for enthusiastically organizing tribal Teej-festivals. A grant-in-aid of Rs 10,000 is being given to the gram panchayats for the dignified organization of tribal festivals. This has given people an opportunity to understand the traditions and cultures of the tribal society.
