Under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, the third meeting of the committee formed in compliance with the order of the Hon’ble High Court to prevent accidents due to stray animals on the state roads, was held.
The Chief Secretary reviewed in detail the action taken so far by the Animal Husbandry Department, Urban Administration and Development Department and Rural Development and Panchayat Department on the instructions and agenda points given in the previous meeting to prevent accidents due to the arrival of animals on the roads. Did. Instructions were given to update the mapping work of the list of gram panchayats and urban bodies falling in the catchment areas of such marked roads of the state where animals often roam on the road. Along with this, instructions have been given to the officers to ensure that the place where the animals are to be kept and the approach road should be dry. It was informed by the departments that cattle rearers and general public are being made aware about the accidents caused by animals coming on the roads.
In the meeting, the National Highway Authority was informed about the progress of the work of staffing the identified places. In the meeting, after studying the best practices of other states to prevent animals from coming on the roads, the main points were made known. Animal Husbandry, Panchayat and Rural Development, Urban Administration, Transport, National Highways Authority of India, Public Works, Law and Legislative Affairs Department along with Chairman, Inter-Departmental Lead Agency Road Safety also participated in the meeting.
