Creativity should be promoted in education - Governor Mr. Vishwabhushan Harichandan

Creativity is the key to unleash the true potential of education. To harness the power of creativity in education, we must foster an environment that encourages experimentation and risk-taking. Teachers should be empowered to teach through creative teaching methods. Governor Mr. Vishwabhushan Harichandan expressed the above idea in a discussion organized at the ongoing International Literature Festival in Bhopal.
A discussion on the topic of education that enhances creativity was organized today under the International Literature Festival “Unmesh” organized by Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Sahitya Akademi at Rabindra Bhawan Bhopal. In which Governor Shri Harichandan attended as the chief guest.
In the discussion, Governor Shri Harichandan expressed his views that creativity promotes deeper understanding of academic subjects. When students are encouraged to think creatively, they are not limited to rote learning, rather they explore different approaches and experiment with different solutions. This process enhances their critical thinking skills and enables them to understand complex concepts more easily. Furthermore, creativity breeds curiosity. It forces students to question the world around them and seek answers beyond the confines of textbooks. Nurturing their innate curiosity makes education enjoyable rather than a tedious task. Curious minds are more engaged and motivated to learn, making the educational experience more meaningful and lasting.
The Governor further said that when students are encouraged to think out of the box, they learn to accept failures as a stepping stone to success. They understand that mistakes are not something to be feared but valuable lessons that can be used to refine their thoughts and approaches. This resilience is an essential life skill that goes beyond the classroom and prepares them to face challenges in their personal and professional lives.
When encouraged to express themselves through art, writing or any other creative medium, they develop a deeper understanding of their own feelings and the feelings of others. This empathy builds a strong foundation for a more compassionate society. Shri Harichandan appealed to teachers, parents and society to work together to promote creativity in education and see its transformative impact on the lives of our children and the world they shape.
The discussion program was presided over by Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. Mr. Chakradhar Tripathi, Mr. Girishwar Mishra, Mr. Govind Prasad Sharma, Shantisree Dhulipudi Pandit and V. Kamakoti were present as other speakers.
