One of the big projects of Chhattisgarh, Tatibandh flyover has been completed. NHAI has opened a part of which going from Raipur to Durg for general public. Apart from this, the work of the lane going from Raipur to Bilaspur has also been completed, but it has been kept closed for movement due to some problems.

This Tatibandh Chowk of Raipur city falls as an important stop on the Kolkata-Nagpur National Highway. The work of flyover at this Chowk started with delay due to land acquisition. Project officials had claimed to complete its work in January 2023, but even at the end of July 2023, only the overbridge going from Durg to Arang has been opened. Asphalt work halted in the rainy season.

The asphalting of the road below this overbridge has not started yet. When it was started from above, the rainy season came, due to which the work of asphalting had to be stopped. At present, the work of asphalting, painting, lighting and cross barrier of the road is pending after the rain stops. Because of this, passengers going from Raipur to Bilaspur or Durg to Bilaspur started going from the wrong side on the flyover. After which the authorities completely closed this route. Perhaps the passengers of this route will have to wait for another 6 months. More difficulties for the passengers in the rain

Every year in the rainy season, the condition of Tatibandh Chowk becomes bad. Due to the passing of several tonnes of heavy trucks and trailers, huge pits of one to one and a half feet are formed here, which prove fatal for the bike riders as soon as the rain water fills them. Apart from this, the traffic slows down due to the poor condition of the roads here. Because of which there is a jam for hours.

Apart from all this, due to the construction of this flyover, a large amount of dust and soil gets accumulated on the road, due to which the vehicle slips and sinks. According to the traffic police officials, three to four vehicles collide with each other here every day. 45 thousand vehicles pass through Tatibandh Chowk daily.

Surveys done by NHAI show that about 45 thousand vehicles pass through Tatibandh Chowk everyday. This chowk used to get jammed more in the evening, due to which people traveling to Raipur-Bhilai used to take an average of half an hour here, but now these passengers will be able to leave comfortably. The director of this project A. Ramamurthy said that Arang and Bhilai lanes have been opened from Tatibandh overbridge. At present, the Bilaspur and Raipur lanes have not been opened yet, because the road work below has not been done yet, due to which people were going from the wrong side.

Extremely busy intersection too many accidents

Tatibandh intersection is the busiest intersection. People use vehicles from this intersection to travel to other states including Bhilai, Durg, Dhamtari, Birgaon, Raipur, Bilaspur, Dhamtari. Due to the old structure of Tatibandh Chowk, there is often a jam situation, so NHAI is preparing new overbridges all around.
