With the successful implementation of the state government’s ambitious ‘Narva Vikas Yojana’, the picture of Vananchal has changed. It is noteworthy that under the Narva Development Program in Chhattisgarh, a large number of ground water conservation works are being implemented rapidly in the drains located in Vananchal under the CAMPA head. Due to this, a lot of improvement has been seen in the ground water level of the forest areas and the residents including the forest dwellers are getting full benefits of drinking water, irrigation and drainage etc. facilities. Along with this, the works of forest conservation and promotion have also been encouraged. 

The Department of Forest and Climate Change has also received the Gold Award for the environment category of ‘Skoch Award’ for its excellent performance in the state. Apart from this, Prithvi Awards have also been given recently in the ESG Global Conference held on July 14 and 15 in New Delhi for the excellent performance of Narva development work in Chhattisgarh. 

Construction of more than 1 crore 80 lakh structures in 6755 drains continues in Vananchal during four and a half years. It is 
noteworthy that under the special initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and under the guidance of Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, groundwater in the forest areas of the state has been restored. For conservation and promotion, the task of reviving water sources, rivers and ponds has been taken up in Bade Talab. 
During the last four and a half years in Chhattisgarh, under the ambitious ‘Narva Vikas’ scheme being run by the state government, construction of various water structures is being done at a rapid pace, treating about 25 lakh hectares of water catchment areas of 6 thousand 755 drains located in Vananchal. Is. Under this, construction of more than one crore 80 lakh structures related to ground water conservation is included. These structures include construction of Brush Wood Check Dam, Loose Boulder Check Dam, Gabion Structure, Earthen Check Dam, Contour Trench, Water Absorption Trench and Staggered Contour Trench. Apart from this, ground water conservation structures like gully plug, check dam, stop dam, percolation tank and pond, dabri and waterhole etc. are being constructed.
