It rained last night and throughout the day on Saturday, inundating many areas of the city. The claims of the Municipal Corporation to prevent water logging were exposed. Meanwhile, the gross negligence of two officials of the Municipal Corporation came to the fore. Instead of going on duty, both of them were celebrating the holiday. Their responsibility was to take care of the arrangements at waterlogged places. Now these officers have been suspended.
Both the officers on whom action was taken are posted as engineers. Their names are Akshay Bhardwaj and Farukhi. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mayank Chaturvedi ordered their suspension. Municipal Corporation was receiving complaints of water logging from about 20 areas. These officers have been removed from the duty of flood control cell and attached to the corporation headquarters. It is reported that these officers were on duty from 10 pm to 6 am. Both were celebrating the holiday without saying anything to anyone. In such a situation, no coordination could be done with the corporation zone team on any complaint related to water logging due to heavy rains.
Because of these the image of the corporation tarnished
Corporation Commissioner Mayant Chaturvedi wrote in the order – Due to the carelessness of these officers, a situation of waterlogging was created and due to not being resolved on time, public anger was faced, due to which the image of the corporation was tarnished. This act of both the sub-engineers comes in the category of a serious misconduct rather than in the interest of the corporation and public interest. The commissioner took action due to negligence and not discharging the responsibility given on time.
Officers reached the spot due to continuous complaints
Due to continuous complaints received on Saturday, zone commissioners were sent to the spot. Devpuri Krishnapuri had more problems. A special cleaning campaign was carried out here by sending Pump and JCB team. The commissioner of the corporation himself kept taking information about the places complaining of water logging. Similarly, there were complaints of water logging in MMI, Narayana Hospital, St. Joseph Colony, Amlidih, BSUP Colony, Wallfort City Zone 5 BSUP Colony, Tagore Nagar, Navkar Hospital, MLA Rest House.
