Raipur: Record of giving 1.25 lakh domestic tap connections within a fortnight in the state

Domestic tap connections have been given to more than 25 lakh families in Chhattisgarh so far

Jal Shakti Ministry appreciated and congratulated the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission in Chhattisgarh

As per the wish of the Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Jal Jeevan Mission has put its full force in the matter of providing domestic tap connections for supply of clean drinking water to the families residing in the rural areas of the state. Chhattisgarh has achieved a remarkable achievement of providing domestic tap connections to more than one lakh 27 thousand families in the last fortnight. This remarkable achievement of Jal Jeevan Mission has been appreciated by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation and the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the target of providing household tap connections to 25 lakh 11 thousand 850 rural families in the state of Chhattisgarh has been accomplished, which is 50.13 percent of the target of providing household tap connections. Ministry of Jal Shakti, New Delhi has congratulated Chhattisgarh through its Twitter handle for achieving more than 50 percent target.

Public Health Engineering Minister Guru Rudrakumar has congratulated everyone for the remarkable progress of Jal Jeevan Mission. He informed that 100 percent households in 556 villages of Chhattisgarh state have also been given household tap connections and every household in 249 villages has been certified for water supply. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, a total of 50 lakh 10 thousand 499 rural families residing in the rural areas of the state have a target to be provided pure drinking water through domestic tap connections.

It is noteworthy that on June 12, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Public Health Engineering Minister Guru Rudrakumar reviewed the latest status of the work by holding a meeting of senior officers of Jal Jeevan Mission and instructed the officers to speed up the work. In compliance to the instructions of the Chief Minister, in the last 14 days, 1,27,290 rural households were given household tap connections in the state, which is a record.

Jal Jeevan Mission director Mr. Alok Katiyar said that in the present situation, the state of Chhattisgarh has left many states behind in terms of progress in providing domestic tap connections daily. He informed that at present, on an average, more than 8 thousand domestic tap connections are being given daily in the state. This process of providing domestic tap connections will continue in the state. In the coming days, Chhattisgarh will be included in the leading states of the country in terms of implementation of the works of Jal Jeevan Mission. He informed that special attention is being paid to the quality of the works and materials of the Jal Jeevan Mission. Intensive monitoring of the districts is being done to fulfill the target. For regular monitoring of drinking water quality at the village level, 05 water channels of each village have been trained to test water through FTK.
