Women self help groups have received an advance order of Rs 25 lakh for the supply of iron nails and fencing mesh wires
Raipur, 7 June 2023, Chhattisgarh Government’s Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) scheme is proving to be a boon for the rural areas of the state, bringing major positive changes in the lives of the villagers. With the development of gauthans as Rural Industrial Parks, villages are transforming into well-functioning production centres. Within 13 days of setting up the iron-nails and chain-linked fencing mesh wire manufacturing unit in the Rural Industrial Park of Gudelia Gauthan of Bhatapara block, the self help group operating this unit i.e. Nari Shakti Gram Sangathan has received an advance order of Rs 25 lakh, which is a tremendous beginning. Earlier, women of this village had to go to other states in search of work, but now they are confidently participating in the livelihood activities in RIPA. Women of this group have started earning profits from the work of manufacturing iron nails and chain linked fencing wire in RIPA. And the better quality of the products have already made these popular in the local market.
The women of Nari Shakti Gram Sangathan in the model village Gudelia of Bhatapara development block of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district started the production of iron nails and chain linked fencing wire only 13 days back, and with the help of the government, a total of 2 quintals of nails and 25 rolls of chain-linked fencing net wire have been manufactured so far. They have received the order to supply 3 quintals of iron nails from a shopkeeper of Bhatapara Nagar. Nari Shakti Sangathan has received an advance order for 600 roll chain linked fencing mesh wire from the nearby gram panchayats for fencing of pastures and Gauthans. These cost around Rs 25 lakh. This will result in a net profit of Rs 3.5 lakh to the group. Mrs. Kala Dhruv, a member of Nari Gram Shakti Sangathan, told that in the said unit, 12 to 15 forged rolls are manufactured on a daily basis with the help of the machines. The length of each mesh roll is 50 feet and the weight is 53 kg. Fencing wire mesh is being sold at the rate of Rs.80 per kg. Rajkumari Dhruv told that one quintal of nails is manufactured in the unit every day, and the market price of the nails is Rs.80. In this way, they are saving Rs.10 per kg. The members of the women’s group are happy with the operation of RIPA. They no longer need to go out in search of work. They told that a total of 200 women from 20 women groups of the village are working in our organization. The women of the group are associated with other income generating activities including production of flyash bricks, paver blocks, spices, footwear, dona-pattal etc.
