Chhattisgarh School Education, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam today met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin M. Gadkari at his residence in New Delhi. Minister Dr. Tekam has requested Union Minister Mr. Gadkari to give National Highway status to Ambikapur to Banaras highway.

    Minister Dr. Tekam submitted the survey report during the meeting with Union Minister Shri Nitin M. Gadkari. It has been mentioned in this survey report that the total length of Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh)-Dhanwar-Banaras (Uttar Pradesh) route under Chhattisgarh is 110.60 km. This route connects Surguja, Surajpur and Balrampur districts of Chhattisgarh with Uttar Pradesh. He informed through the letter that this route is a very important route, which connects directly to Delhi via Chhattisgarh via Uttar Pradesh. This route is the busiest route from commercial point of view, transportation of vegetables, minerals, mineral production, everyday items etc. from Chhattisgarh to Uttar Pradesh is done in large quantity. In this route there are many small and big bridges, ghats, There are dangerous turns etc. There is a lot of traffic pressure on this route. Therefore, it is very important to make Ambikapur-Dhanwar-Banaras a national highway in order to facilitate the traffic on this route.

    It is also worth mentioning here that Banaras is a very big center of religious faith of the entire Indians. The surrounding areas of states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar will be benefitted by the Ambikapur-Dhanwar-Banaras road becoming a national highway. The present traffic survey of this route from 20th June 2022 to 26th June 2022 shows 2394 cars, jeeps, vans and three wheelers, 198 scooters, motor cycles, 345 buses and minibuses, 1767 trucks, 6548 tractors including trolleys, 196 cycles and 1904 Horse cart-bullock cart traffic started. Chhattisgarh as well as other neighboring states will be benefited by making this route a national highway.
