Under the government’s ambitious Narva, Garuva, Ghurva and Bari schemes, rural women have moved towards self-reliance by joining livelihood activities in Gothans. Today, along with household chores, these women are also doing livelihood related works with enthusiasm and dedication. Various activities are being conducted in Gauthans of Korea district, in which women earning profit by doing poultry farming are creating their own success story.
With the help of the district administration, poultry farming is being done by the group in the Gauthans of the district. Self-help group’s sisters are earning good profit by selling eggs by rearing chickens in Gauthan Mahora village of Baikunthpur block. Indramani Didi, a member of the group, says that she started this work a year ago as a livelihood. So far, eggs worth more than Rs 2 lakh have been sold by them, due to which net profit of Rs 40 thousand has been earned and at present the work of egg production is being done continuously by them.
Indramani didi as a source of inspiration is motivating the didis of her group to do livelihood activity and is now contributing to the income of her family along with being capable herself. Similarly, Sangeeta Didi of Jwala Mahila Self Help Group of Gauthan Rajauli village of development block Sonhat had started Kadaknath poultry farming in Gauthan from last January at a cost of Rs 10,000 and today she has sold more than Rs 20,000. . He told that it is really a pleasant feeling to be financially capable, he has invested the income received in the education of children and has used it to strengthen the economic condition of the house.
