The Chief Minister paid tribute to the martyrs by reaching Jhiram Memorial on Jhiram Valley Martyrdom Day

On the occasion of Jhiram Valley Martyrdom Day today, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel paid tribute and bowed down to the martyrs of Jhiram Valley at Jhiram Memorial located in Lalbagh, Jagdalpur. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the martyrdom of the martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice against Naxalism will not go in vain, Sal will free the Bastar region from Naxalism and again make it an island of peace.

    People’s representatives including Chief Minister Mr. Baghel observed silence for two minutes in the memory of the martyrs of Jhiram on this occasion and administered oath to all the people present to make the state an island of peace again. During this, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel met the families of the martyrs of Jhiram Valley and presented them with shawl-shreefal.

    While addressing the tribute meeting, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that it has been ten years since the Jhiram Valley incident. Every year we pay homage to the martyrs of Jhiram and whenever 25th May comes, our hearts fill with tears. Those who survived saw the incident with their own eyes. They used to tell how horrific the incident was. Chief Minister Baghel said that the leaders who were martyred in this incident had talked about change. Which was started from Surguja. Our leaders used to say that we have to bring change in the lives of farmers, tribals, youth and women. All our big leaders who took the pledge of change are no more among us. He has given his martyrdom in Jhiram.
    Recalling the Jheeram incident, the Chief Minister said that our Rajya Sabha member Smt. Phulo Devi Netam came out and said stop this. She is a brave woman. When our leaders were surrounded from all sides. Martyr Mahendra Karma came out and asked the Naxalites to stop killing innocents, stop firing. You have enmity with me. I surrender He said this type of thing, I am Bastar Tiger, I am Mahendra Karma. Mahendra Karma did not apologise, sacrificed his life. For whom, for Bastar, for the state, for democracy, for all of us. It can be understood how big was his resolve to save his loved ones by giving his life.

    The Chief Minister further said that we have continuously worked hard to achieve the holy purpose of new construction for which our leaders had undertaken Parivartan Yatra. With the policy of development, trust and security, we have contained the Naxalites to a few areas only. He said that we have ensured the development of Bastar with our plans and policies. We have accelerated education, health, conservation of tribal culture and other development works and have done better work.
    Industries Minister Shri Kawasi Lakhma, Lok Sabha Constituency Bastar MP Shri Deepak Baij, Chairman of Bastar Development Authority Shri Lakheshwar Baghel, Vice President Shri Vikram Mandavi, Parliamentary Secretary Shri Rekhchand Jain, MLA Shri Mohan Markam, Mrs. Sangeeta on the tenth anniversary of Jhiram Valley Martyrdom Day Sinha, Mr. Chandan Kashyap, Mayor Jagdalpur Mrs. Safira Sahu, Chairperson of Municipality Mrs. Kavita Sahu, Vice Chairman of Indravati Basin Development Authority Mr. Rajeev Sharma, Commissioner Mr. Shyam Dhawde, IG Mr. Sundarraj P. Collector Mr. Vijay Dayaram K., Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Other public representatives including Jitendra Meena also paid tribute to the martyrs.
     Chief Minister became emotional during the meeting with the families of the martyrs – Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel met the families of the martyrs after paying homage to the martyrs of Jhiram Valley. He honored the family members by presenting shawl-shreefal. The Chief Minister became emotional during the discussion with the families of the martyrs. The Chief Minister inquired about everyone’s well being. The Chief Minister told the family members that all of you have made a big sacrifice. Chhattisgarh government is standing with you every moment.
