Due to the continuous efforts of the last several months, the district administration has achieved a huge success in the development block Dhamdha of Durg through administrative intervention and public participation. Six ponds of Dhamdha, which had ceased to exist 40 years ago, were first discovered, then encroachment was removed and then the pond was excavated and given its original form. The revenue department revived these ponds with the cooperation of the local people and their untiring efforts.

These ponds were mentioned in the pages of history but at present have lost their original form. It was completely razed and given the form of a farm by some local farmers. For the restoration of these extinct ponds, the district administration was actively working in a planned manner. Under which he marked the old ponds through public cooperation. By matching the revenue land records of 1909, 1921-22, 1929-30, 1984-85, 12 extinct ponds were identified and demarcated. Whose continuous restoration work is being done through public participation, under which the excavation work of Hathi Budhan, Ghoda Budhan, Banfra Ka Talab and Banfra Ka Paithu ancient ponds has been completed and Teli Dabri and Lokaiya Talab have been excavated. Its going on.

Because this task was complicated, the administration took the help of local people having knowledge of the field. In which the elders of the village and the Dharmadham Gauravgatha Samiti, who do conservation work in the area of ​​Taria, participated. The committee was working in this direction since 3 years ago. Under which he informed the administration about the names of the ponds, information about their builders, Khasra and rakba number etc. were made available. Based on the available data, the information available from 100 years old maps and other land records was matched. Along with this, the spot was inspected with the team of Patwaris. Giving information on the subject, SDM Dhamdha informed that according to official records, 26 ponds had disappeared from their places. Out of which 12 ponds have been freed from encroachment by establishing coordination with public participation, district administration and police force.

Out of 36 dilapidated ponds identified in the official records, the district administration freed 12 ponds from encroachment.It was told by the SDM that as per the instructions of the Collector Mr. Pushpendra Kumar Meena, out of 36 ponds marked in the government records which were completely covered, initially it has been asked to mark the ponds of large area. In which 12 ponds were identified with the help of local people and Dharmadham Gauravgatha Samiti. In which these 12 extinct ponds were freed with mutual coordination with public participation. Hathi Budan, Ghoda Budan, Banfra Talab, Banfra Paithu, Teli Dabri, Lokaiya Talab, Nakti Dabri, Dokra Talab, Muni Ka Paithu, Muni Ka Peech, Lodhi Dabri, Piprahi Talab are included in the list of 12 ponds. The SDM said that other remaining ponds will also be freed from encroachment soon and the district administration will work in a positive direction to re-establish Dhamdha, the city of ponds, soon.
