The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association is trying to include Raipur in the cities where World Cup matches are played. For this, the office bearers of the State Cricket Association have also approached the BCCI.
State Cricket Association Secretary Mukul Tiwari informed that we are trying to get Raipur to host. At present, the schedule for the Raipur match has not been decided. Because the World Cup is to be played in India and Raipur also has a stadium with all facilities. That’s why we are trying to get Raipur to host.
October 5 to November 19 possible date
This Mahakumbh of cricket can be organized from October 5 to November 19. Although the International Cricket Council (ICC), the governing body of cricket in the world, has not officially announced any date. According to reports, the ODI World Cup 2023 may start from October 5 and the final match of the tournament will be played in November. Several venues have been decided for this. It is believed that matches can be held in Nagpur, Bangalore, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot, Indore, Bangalore and Dharamshala.
Raipur has already hosted such a match
The Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium hosted two IPL matches in 2013. In 2014, T20 Challenger Trophy matches were held here. IPL was played for the second time in 2015. Since 2016, Ranji Trophy matches, Syed Mustaq Ali T20 Trophy matches have been played continuously. For the last two years, matches of Road Safety Cricket Series are also being organized here.
Sachin has also hit fours and sixes
Cricket players like Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj came to the ground in Raipur in the road safety series. This year on January 21, there was a match between Team India and New Zealand in Raipur.
