There has been a decrease in the incidents of wild animals coming out of the forest areas to the populated areas.

Water recharging is the biggest challenge in today’s times of climate change and global warming. Taking an innovative initiative to save water sources and increase the water level, the Government of Chhattisgarh is working to save water by treating drains. Under the Suraji Gaon Yojana under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, drains are being treated under the Narva programme. Under this, treatment of more than 13 thousand drains flowing in Chhattisgarh has been done for water recharging, which is yielding positive results. Forest Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar has said that the Narva Development Program is proving important for forest areas. With the increase in ground water level, irrigation area, the condition of bio-diversity is getting better. There has been a decrease in the incidents of wild animals coming into the populated areas outside the forest area.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri V. Srinivasa Rao told that before the treatment of drains in the Narva programme, a detailed study of the land is done, after that the work of treatment of drains is done. Due to the treatment of drains at the right places under the Narva scheme, the water level has increased from 7 cm to 30 cm in many districts of the state today.
Due to the treatment of selected drains under the Dhamtari forest division under the Narva development work, a lot of improvement is visible in the ground level of the forest areas. Sufficient quantity of water is being made available to the forest dwellers and people living in forest areas for their daily needs like drinking water and sewage treatment. They are getting a lot of benefits from this. With the improvement in the water level in the forest areas, along with promoting the work of forest conservation and promotion, there is an increase in the number of twelve monthly drains for the drinking and needs of the wildlife. As a result, there has also been a decrease in the incidents of wild animals coming out of the forest areas to the populated areas.
Mr. Mayank Pandey, DFO of Dhamtari Forest Division told that APO under Narva Development Program under Campa head under Forest Division. In the year 2019-20, 9669.000 ha in 07 drains. 2270 structures in the area, 8263.000 ha in 07 drains in 2020-21. 15596 structures in the area, 1977 ha in 04 drains in 2021-22. 13641 structures in the area and 4810.000 ha in 06 drains in the year 2022-23. There are 34688 structures in the area thus 24719.000 ha in total 24 drains. 66195 structures have been constructed in the area, remaining structures are under construction. Constructed Structures include Stop Dam, Gabion Structure, Brush Wood Check Dam, Loose Boulder Check Dam, Dyke, Dubri, Contour Pal, 30×40 Model, WAT, Contour Trench, Arden Dam, EGP, Percolation Tank, Gully Plug Structures like Stone Bund, EPG, ECB have been built.
Apart from this, for the convenience of people living in forest areas under Dhamtari Forest Division, APO has completed 11.40 km WBM Road and 08 Nos. Rapta, Pulia, A.P. in the year 2018-19. O. In the year 2019-20, 25.50 km W.B.M. Road and 06 nos. Rapta, Pulia, A.P.O. In the year 2020-21, 06 km. W.B.M. Road and APO In the year 2021-22, 23.70 km W.B.M. Road and 31 Nos. Rapta, Pulia, Culvert, thus total 63.30 Km. W.B.M. Road and 45 Nos. Rapta The bridge has been constructed.
