Government schemes will be banned if found involved in activities related to prohibited fisheries
Provision of one year imprisonment and fine of Rs 10,000 for violating the ban
Raipur, April 06, 2023:
Fish seed production, fish seed cultivation and rearing of exotic magur (Clarius garipinus) and big head (Hypopthalmicthys nobilis) fishes have been declared prohibited in the state by the Fisheries Department, Government of Chhattisgarh.
No fisherman, individual, group or committee of these prohibited fishes, shall produce fish seed by the central or state government, promote and rear fishes in government or personal water bodies. According to the notification issued by the state government, the transportation, import and marketing of these fish has also been banned.
According to the order issued by the Director Fisheries, in case of violation of the ban, under the Chhattisgarh Fisheries (Amendment) Act 2015, one year imprisonment and Rs 10,000 or both can be punished. If the state government is found involved in any activity related to these banned fish, after conviction, the concerned will be banned from all kinds of schemes offered by the fisheries department.
