An important decision has been taken by the Government of Chhattisgarh to provide special exemption in payment of property tax in the interest of the citizens. Under this, the last date fixed for submission of property tax and returns in the state has been extended from March 31 to April 30. On the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and on the initiative of Urban Administration and Development Minister Dr. Shiv Dahria, an additional opportunity of one month has been given for the convenience of the citizens by providing a special relaxation of 30 days on the last date.
It is worth mentioning that keeping in view the pandemic (Covid-19) in the last years, an additional opportunity was given by providing special exemption on March 31, the last date fixed for submission of property tax and returns. For this year 2022-23 property tax and submission of returns, the earlier exemption deadline – 15 April 2023, has been extended to 30 April 2023.
In this regard, in a letter issued by the Urban Administration and Development Department to all Collectors, Commissioners and Chief Municipal Officers, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats, it has been said that in case of payment of property tax by the citizens coming to the office, physical distancing should be followed. Must be done. Following physical distancing, property tax should be collected from house to house by the employees of the civic body and citizens should be encouraged more and more for online payment.
