Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, the state government has increased the assistance amount from Rs 25 thousand to Rs 50 thousand. A provision of Rs 38 crore has been kept for this scheme in the budget presented for the year 2023-24. With this, the dream of many families to get their daughters married with pomp will be fulfilled.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the state government has increased the amount under the scheme twice. In the first budget presented after taking over as Chief Minister, Mr. Baghel had increased the grant amount given under marriage from Rs. 15 thousand to Rs. 25 thousand in the year 2019, giving priority to the marriage of daughters. Now this amount has been increased to 50 thousand rupees. Compared to the year 2019, the fixed budget amount has also been increased from Rs 19 crore to Rs 38 crore. Due to this, the concern about the marriage of daughters in many families has been removed.
Significantly, due to financial problems in many families, the daughter’s marriage becomes difficult. Under these circumstances, the state government provides assistance for the marriage of daughters under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. The objective of this scheme, run by the Department of Women and Child Development, is to solve the economic difficulties faced by the poor families in the marriage of the girl child, to prevent extravagance in marriage and to promote simple marriages, through the organization of group marriages, the self-esteem of the poor family. Along with the increase in their social status, there is an improvement in their social status and prevention of dowry transactions in marriages.

Under the scheme, financial assistance is given to families living below the poverty line and maximum two girls above the age of 18 years of the card holder family under the Chief Minister’s Food Scheme. In this, along with providing the bride and groom’s makeup and other daily use items as gifts, money is also given through bank draft. Some amount is also spent for organizing mass marriages. Widows, orphans, destitute girls are also included under the scheme.
