Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jaisingh Agarwal has written a letter to Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav to restore the operations of all passenger trains operating from Korba from Gevra Road railway station as before. In a letter written to the Railway Minister, the Revenue Minister, who is always trying to solve regional problems, has expressed the importance of Korba region and said that Korba district under South East Central Railway Division is an important industrial area with Asia’s largest coal producing mines. Apart from the central and state government, many power plants of the private sector are established. It has been specially emphasized in the letter that people from almost all the states of the country are employed in all the establishments and due to all the industrial activities, Korba is a major business center as well as a powerhouse. Jai Singh Agarwal has further written in the letter that for the convenience of passengers, all local and long distance trains like Chhattisgarh Express (Korba-Amritsar), Shivnath Express (Korba-Nagpur), Cochin Express (Korba-Cochin) have been rescheduled in the past. All local and MEMU trains used to be done from Gevra Road Railway Station which was temporarily closed in the year 2020 due to Covid. It is further written in the letter that since about a year back, when the conditions have become normal and the operation of all mail-express, passenger and local trains in all the railway blocks of the country has been restored as before, In such a situation, the general public of Korba is still deprived of this railway facility. He has further written in the letter that earlier all the trains operating from Gevra Road were temporarily stopped for an indefinite period and at present all those trains are being operated from Korba Railway Station. It has also been brought to the attention of the Railway Minister that in this regard, through public representatives of several fora locally, meeting the concerned officials of South East Central Railway Division Bilaspur several times and giving a memorandum, in place of Korba, all railway stations will be replaced for public convenience. A request has also been made to restore the operation of trains from Gevra Road immediately. Minister Aggarwal has further written that only assurances were given by the authorities on this subject but in reality no positive steps have been taken from their side till date and the result is that Gevra Road, Deepka, Kusmunda,
Bringing to the notice of the Railway Minister, the Revenue Minister has further written in the letter that a double rail line is available from Korba to Gevra Road with electrification facility, which at present is being used only for coal transportation. The railway tracks on which coal is being operated uninterruptedly, passenger trains can also be operated on those tracks as smoothly as before, in relation to which the Railways is in a dilemma, it is beyond comprehension. It has been specifically mentioned in the letter that thousands of passengers will be benefited if all trains are restored from Gevra Road railway station. Especially those people who travel to Bilaspur or Raipur every day for their daily work and also those passengers who have to catch another connecting train from Champa Junction or Bilaspur or have to fly further from Raipur will also be specially benefited from this facility. Travel facility has to be obtained. Minister Jaisingh Aggarwal has expressed confidence that once the operation of all trains from Gevra Road railway station is restored, apart from getting relief from many practical difficulties, the daily rail passengers will also save their money and time. He has also clearly written in the letter that the office bearers of Korba Rail Yatri Morcha and representatives of various organizations have written to him on this subject in the past with a request to restore the operations of all trains operating from Korba from Gevra Road Railway Station. Met and discussed in detail the practical difficulties of everyday life.
Minister Jaisingh Aggarwal has written in the letter urging the Railway Minister that in order to solve the practical difficulties being faced by the general public, the operations of all the trains currently running from Korba should be restored from the Gevra Road railway station as before, with the concerned authorities. Necessary guidelines should be issued on their behalf soon.
