‘Humar Lab’ has emerged as a lifeline for the needy people of the state. The health department is making constant efforts to ensure that patients can get maximum and easy health facilities in government hospitals. Patients are continuously getting benefited from them. Earlier thousands of rupees had to be spent for getting the tests done for major diseases, but now all types of health tests are being done free of cost in ‘Hummer Lab’.

The health department is making constant efforts to ensure that patients can get maximum and easy health facilities in government hospitals. Patients are continuously getting benefited from them. Earlier thousands of rupees had to be spent for getting the tests done for major diseases, but now all types of health tests are being done free of cost in ‘Hummer Lab’.
62-year-old Ghanshyam (name changed) had reached the Raipur District Hospital in Pandri with hernia problem. After his preliminary examination, the surgeon advised CBC. All his tests were done in the ‘Hummer Lab’ of Raipur District Hospital. After investigation, his WBC count was found to be one lakh five thousand.
Pathologist Dr. Shraddha Sahu examined Ghanshyam’s health after making a slide of peripheral smear. In this test, the size and number of red and white blood cells (RBC and WBC) and platelets are examined. It also helps to detect other counts, such as checking the size and number of different types of WBCs or neukocytes.
After a thorough examination in Ghanshyam’s ‘Hummer Lab’, the spleen was found to be enlarged. The patient’s sample was sent for cytogenetic analysis which confirmed chronic myelogenous leukemia.
Timely treatment reaching the needy
Through ‘Humar Lab’, the needy are getting timely treatment. Quality check-up and diagnostic services are being provided through ‘Humar Lab’ operating in the state. ‘Humar Labs’ have been set up in district hospitals and community health centers across the state. 120 types of test facilities are available in the ‘Hummer Lab’ of district hospitals and 50 types of tests are available in the lab of Community Health Centers.
