Organized 3 days workshop. In the workshop, the experts of the Room to Read organization told how a good children’s literature is a great medium to increase the curiosity in children and increase their desire to read, know and learn. The experts of the organization told that the drawing of stories is a very important part of any children’s literature, which is important not only for children who can read but also for children who do not know how to read or are in the initial stage of reading. Are.
The National Education Policy 2020 and the FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Mission) lay emphasis on the availability of good children’s literature in the language and context of the child’s home. In compliance of this, the State Project Office of Holistic Education is making continuous efforts. The Department of Comprehensive Education has taken a big initiative to solve the problem of making relevant child-friendly stories and their suitable illustration. In this sequence, the department is working closely with the Art-Music University of its own zone, Khairagarh district.
In September 2022, the department organized a 3-day capacity building workshop for 21 teachers in collaboration with the Room to Read organization to write children’s stories by the Office of Holistic Education. Through this workshop, a state level resource group has been formed for story making. As a result, 19 children’s stories could be produced. A 3-day workshop was organized in Raipur for enhancing the capacity of 13 research scholars and good painters of Khairagarh University to depict the same 8 stories made by the teachers. In the workshop, it was told that how is literature for children, what things are taken care of in it, how their pictures are made so that children get attracted towards those pictures and get inspired to read them.
The workshop was presided over by Dr. M. Sudheesh, Assistant Director of the State Project Office for Comprehensive Education. Simi Sikka, Navneet from Room to Read and Dr. Kapil Singh Verma from Khairagarh University were present as experts. At the end of the workshop, the state head of the Room to Read organization Prateek Banerjee thanked all the participants.
