Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that the government is committed to provide fear-free and lawful governance in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister has praised the Chhattisgarh Police for curbing crime and surrendering Naxalites along with the sensitive attitude of the police in Naxal-affected areas. He has said that due to the strategy of development, trust and security, there has been an effective stop on the incidents of Naxalite violence in the state.
State Home Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu has said that continuous work is being done to eradicate Naxalism in the state of Chhattisgarh in the last four years. Police modernization works are being done by the state government. Chhattisgarh government is providing modern weapons, security equipment, necessary training and vehicles to the police against Naxalites.
Impressed by the works being done by the government in the public interest and due to the sensitive behavior of the Chhattisgarh Police, 555 Naxalites have surrendered last year, which is a big success. Meanwhile, 46 Naxalites have also died in police encounters. In the last four years, more than 900 families have been freed from lawsuits in Naxal-affected areas, which has been possible due to the far-sighted thinking of the government in the interest of tribals and the sensitivity of the police.
Till four years back, there were many misconceptions in the country regarding Bastar. But in these four years, the government has worked for security and trust. During this, development works have been done in Bastar region. During this period closed schools in Naxalite affected areas were reopened, new hospitals were opened, basic facilities like water and electricity were made available to the villagers. Ration shops have been opened in every village. Forest rights pattas have been distributed to farmers in Naxal-affected areas and tribals have been given back their lands.
It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh’s Director General of Police Mr. Ashok Juneja has written a letter to the Director General of NIA demanding an inquiry into the murder of three people’s representatives in Bastar. Mr. Juneja has said that the area of Maoists is continuously shrinking, the efforts of the Central Security Force and the State Police have resulted in success in eradication of Naxalites in the past years and due to this the Naxalites are targeting public representatives and common citizens in a fit of rage.
