Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Chaubey today distributed policies to farmers under the “Meri Policy Mere Haath” program in his residential office. Farmers were given policies under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana and the reconstituted, weather-based Fasal Beema Yojana. Starting from the 15th of February, on the district level, under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana, the farmers insured under Fasal Beema Yojana were given a total amount of Rs. 2,23,873. Under the weather-based Fasal Beema Yojana, a total of 13,487 farmers were given policies by insurance companies.
It is noteworthy that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana and the reconstituted weather-based Fasal Beema Yojana, in adverse weather conditions, for economic security from crop loss, extensive crop insurance policy is provided, which includes cereals, pulses, sesame, and horticultural crops. For notified crops under the insurance policy, the scheme is voluntary for farmers who have borrowed loans and farmers who are non-borrowers.
A payment of Rs. 6235.24 crores has been made to eligible farmers in exchange for a premium amount of Rs. 1191.06 crores for the time period between the start year 2016-17 and end year 2022-23.
Under the Rabi year 2021-22, a payment of Rs. 382.10 crores has been made against an amount of Rs. 382.10 crores premium amount of Rs. 17.90 crores given by farmers. On this occasion, the Commissioner of Agricultural Production Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Director of Agriculture Ms. Ranu Sahu, Director of Horticulture Mr. V. Matheshwaran, the Additional Director of Agriculture Department Mr. G.K. Peediha, Joint Director Mr. B.K. Mishra, Deputy Director Mr. R.K. Kashyap, and Deputy Director of Horticulture Department Mr. Neeraj Shaha were present.
