Successful operation of 35 children

Raigarh district of the state has become a congenital cataract blindness free district. In Raigad, 35 children found suffering from congenital cataract have been successfully operated. Out of these, the sight of both the eyes of three children has been restored. The age of all these children is between two and 15 years. After the operation, the life of these children has become bright.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital of Raipur , Late Shri Lakhiram Agarwal Memorial Medical College of Raigarh,Raigarh District Hospital and L.B. Children suffering from congenital cataract have been operated at Prasad Hospital. Cataract is generally found in elderly people , but in some cases, the complaint of cataract is seen in the eyes of a newborn baby since birth. In the absence of treatment and proper counseling, these children have to spend their whole life with this disease. There were 35 cases of congenital cataract in remote forest areas of Raigarh district, which were identified and treated by the government.

Congenital cataract is a congenital disorder associated with the eye , which causes reduced or blurred vision of the eye. The presence of cloudiness in front of the pupil of the eye of a child since birth is called congenital cataract or congenital cataract. Congenital cataract can occur in one or both eyes. If congenital cataract is not treated early , it can lead to vision problems or blindness later on.

Timely treatment of congenital cataract is necessary

State Nodal Officer-cum-Director Epidemic Control of Blindness Control Program , Dr. Subhash Mishra told that if a child has cataract or white membrane in the eyes from birth, then it should be examined as soon as possible. To keep the eyes safe, the eyes and the skin around the eyes should be washed with clean water every morning after waking up and at night while sleeping. Use clean and separate towels to wipe your eyes and face. Protect eyes from sunlight and bright light and use good quality glasses. Protect eyes from accident. Be careful while shooting fireworks ,If something gets into the eye, the eye should not be rubbed , but by washing the eye with clean water, one should try to take out the foreign particle.

Dr. Mishra told that the book should be read keeping one and a half feet away from the eyes. Never read in a moving bus or lying down or in very dim light , it strains the eyes. For good eyesight, eat foods containing vitamin-A like spinach , carrots , papaya , mango , milk ,Do not use the medicine of the eyes by quacks or the medicine of antimony sellers. In case of eye discomfort, consult a doctor immediately.
