With the successful implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, quality drinking water facility has reached all the 47 houses of Pando tribe dominated village Durgapur in Koriya district. Access to clean drinking water has brought smiles on the faces of the villagers. About 18 km away from Korea district headquarter of Chhattisgarh, Durgapur, a dependent village of Gram Panchayat Umjhar of development block Baikunthpur, is a Pando tribe dominated village. It was a challenging task to ensure availability of quality drinking water to each family under Jal Jeevan Mission in Durgapur village, which reflects the lifestyle of forest dwellers. Where there is a will, there is a path, considering it as an ideal formula, an action plan was made with the resolution to provide quality water to every family of Durgapur through the Jal Jeevan Mission, and in the end, the smile on the face of the villagers itself is giving evidence of the scheme being fruitful. .

Giving the above information, the Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering said that better implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission is being done in the district under the direction of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and under the guidance of Collector Mr. Vinay Kumar Langeh.

The objective of Jal Jeevan Mission is to provide drinking water to all the rural families through working household tap connections. Under this scheme, by March, 2024, excellent quality drinking water is to be supplied to all the rural houses of Chhattisgarh state continuously for a long period of time through domestic tap connections at the rate of 55 liters per person per day. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, work is being done at a fast pace to fulfill the target of Jal Jeevan Mission in the state.

Under Jal Jeevan Mission, women are trained as Jal Vahini to make villagers aware. Under Jal Jeevan Mission, Jal Vahini Ramkumari Sarathi told that drinking water is tested under Jal Jeevan Mission, from which information about the quality of water is obtained.
According to the information received from the department, through Jal Jeevan Mission, the pious work of providing quality drinking water through taps to 47 identified houses in Khalpara and Ebalpara of Durgapur at a cost of Rs 35.78 lakh is being done. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission Yojana, sufficient quantity of pure drinking water is being supplied to every household by reaching tap water and now the villagers do not have to wander for clean drinking water.
