Payment of Rs 16,217 crore to farmers
55 lakh tonnes of paddy lifted for custom milling

In Chhattisgarh, the campaign to buy paddy on support price is going on continuously, which will continue till January 31, 2023. Officials of the Food Department said that so far 80.55 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from the farmers on the support price in the state. In lieu of paddy purchase, about Rs 16,217 crore has been paid to 19.33 lakh farmers under the bank linking system.
Like last year, on the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, this year too, paddy procurement is going on continuously along with paddy procurement for custom milling. So far DO has been issued for lifting of 68 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, against which 55 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted by the millers. Officials said that on January 02, 1.65 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured from 44 thousand farmers. Apart from this, about 23 thousand tonnes of paddy has also been purchased from the farmers through tokens obtained online. 55,440 thousand tokens and about 7 thousand 608 tokens have been issued online through “Token Tunhar Haath App” for paddy purchase for the next day.
It may be noted that this year 25.92 lakh farmers have been registered in the state, including about 2.26 lakh new farmers. 2600 procurement centers have been set up for paddy purchase in the state. Normal paddy is being bought at the rate of Rs 2040 per quintal and Grade-A paddy at Rs 2060 per quintal. A strict vigil is being kept on the system of paddy procurement in the state. Goods carriers are being checked at check posts to prevent illegal transportation of paddy from border states.
