Raipur: Chief Minister inaugurated Minor Forest Produce Product Park at Devbhog

More than 16000 forest produce collecting families will be able to raise their standard of living by getting higher income

The state government will approve Rs 7.42 crore for the establishment of a rural enterprise park.

A rural enterprise park based on small forest produce is being set up in village Indagaon, near Devbhog, the development block headquarters of remote Vananchal region of Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated it today. Under the Indagaon forest area, minor forest produce such as Mahua flower dry, chironji kernels, pulses, mahua seeds, lac etc. are found in abundance.
The objective of setting up Rural Enterprises Park at Devbhog is to add value in view of the availability of raw materials found in the region. This park will be a catalyst for the empowerment of women in the social and economic structure of the villages. A total of 11 women self-help groups will be included in this center, under which about 150 women will directly join the center and more than 16000 collecting families under the development block will be able to raise their standard of living by getting higher income.

Proposed Rural Enterprises Park – Information about the proposed processing unit in Rural Enterprises Park Devbhog is as follows – Chironji Processing, Lac Processing, Pulses Processing, Neem, Mahua and Safflower Oil Processing, Spices Processing Unit. Chhattisgarh State Industries Development Corporation Marya Raipur will set up Rural Enterprise Park at a cost of Rs 7.42 crore. 3.75 crore from Secretary, Government of India Ministry of Food Processing Industries, New Delhi, 2.00 crore from Rural Enterprise Park and the remaining Rs. 1.67 crore will be provided from Chhattisgarh State Small Forest Produce Association, District Forest Produce Cooperative Union and Van Dhan Vikas Kendra.

This project will prove to be a milestone for the overall socio-economic development of Devbhog area and its surrounding areas which have been devoid of any cottage industry, processing centre. This project can bring a big change in the block by ensuring marketing of agro-forest produce across the country to create identity of Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association and Gariaband district.
