Raipur, 29 April 2020.Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has directed the farmers of the state to ensure availability of better quality seeds and standard quality Raisnik fertilizers for Kharif. He has said that no complaint should be made regarding the quality of fertilizer and seeds. The Chief Minister has also given instructions to conduct periodic intensive checks on the quality of fertilizers being sent to the districts. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel today reviewed the functioning of the Agriculture Department in the hall of his residence office here as well as the preparations being made by the Agriculture Department for the upcoming Kharif season. Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Chaubey, Chief Secretary Shri R. P. Mandal, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Subrata Sahu, Commissioner of Agricultural Production, Mrs. Maninder Kaur Dwivedi, Deputy Secretary to Chief Minister Secretariat Ms. Soumya Charasia and General Manager of Dairy Federation Mr. Narendra Dugga were present along with other senior officials.
In the meeting, Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey informed that to ensure timely availability of fertilizer and seeds for kharif to farmers, along with adequate storage in the districts, distribution to societies has also started. In view of the demand of 9 lakh 7 thousand 800 quintal variety of seeds for the Kharif season, so far 2 lakh 78 thousand 469 quintal seeds have been stored in double lock centers and societies. Similarly, against the target of distribution of 11 lakh 30 thousand metric tons of chemical fertilizer for the Kharif season, 6 lakh 9 thousand 621 metric tons of fertilizer has been stored in the districts so far.
It was informed in the meeting that for this year’s Kharif season, there is a target of distribution of 9 lakh 7 thousand 800 quintal seeds, which is 67 thousand quintal as compared to last year.
