Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has said that the role of fishermen community has always been glorious since ancient times. Our government has decided to name the main square in Nava Raipur after the name of a great man to enhance the pride of fishermen community. He said that we have given the status of agriculture to fisheries. With this decision, the fishermen brothers are getting zero percent loan and other facilities, according to the intention of the fishermen community, a new fishermen policy has been prepared, which has been announced. Mr. Baghel was addressing the program organized on World Fisheries Day at Pandil Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium today.
Addressing the program, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that the way the state cannot live without water, similarly the Nishad community cannot live without fish, keeping this in mind, we have formulated a new fishermen policy. Along with this, thousands of ponds have been constructed under the Narva scheme and drains have been recharged, due to which the level of underground water has increased. More than 10,000 cowsheds have been constructed, where poultry and fish farming are also being done. He said that the state government is constantly trying to make the Nishad society socially and economically empowered. Appealing to the fishermen community, he said that the fishermen community should also take two steps forward and take advantage of the schemes of the government.
Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey said that our government is making continuous efforts for the social and economic development of all sections of the village, poor, farmers and laborers. The state government has made plans for the welfare of the fishermen community. Our government has named Bilaspur airport after Bilasa Mata, which is a historic decision. He said that according to the intention of the Nishad community, a decision has been taken to name one of the main square of Nava Raipur after the name of Shiromani Bhakta Guha Nishad. His statue would also be installed in the future, in this regard he urged the fishermen community to prepare an outline of the statue and the program and propose it to the government.
In the program, motor cycle cum ice-box was also distributed to 31 beneficiaries related to fish farming and four wheelers to 7 beneficiaries. Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Kunwarsingh Nishad, Chairman of Fishermen Welfare Board Mr. MR Nishad and other members Mr. Dinesh Futan, Mr. Devkumar Nishad, Mr. Naresh Nishad and officers and employees of Fisheries Department and representatives of Nishad community from different districts of the state participated in the programme. A large number were present.
