Requested to issue instructions for setting up 2G ethanol refinery in the state

Regarding starting ethanol production in the state from the residue of paddy crop

 Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to the President of Madhya Kshetra Inter-State Council and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, granting approval for a commercial and a demonstration project through oil marketing companies for the production of ethanol in the state from the residue of paddy crop. It has been requested to direct the action for the establishment of 2G ethanol refinery. 

Referring to the meeting of the Central Region Inter-State Council held on 22nd August 2022, Chief Minister Shri Baghel has said that in the state, under the Pradhan Mantri ‘G-1’ scheme (Biofuel-Environmental Residue Redressal) redressal of crop residues. In respect of Nasirezlar (2G) for lignan cellulologic biomass based bioethanol production, a request was made to set up a refinery by the Oil Marketing Company of the Government of India. The estimated annual production of agricultural crops especially paddy in the state of Chhattisgarh is 137 lakh MT (Kharif marketing year 2022-23). All favorable conditions are available in the State for the execution of biomass derived from it (2G) lignans for cellulologic biomass based refinery. 

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has further written in the letter that BaStrategic Partnership can be done by the state government’s urban bodies and Gauthan committees to provide lignan cellulologic biomass through backward linkage. Through this, environmental pollution caused by burning of agricultural residues and solid waste management in urban areas can be reduced according to the targets set for the fulfillment of the objectives of the scheme.
