The decision of Chhattisgarhia Olympics was taken in the cabinet on the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel.

 On the initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, after the decision taken in the cabinet on 6th September, the blueprint of Chhattisgarh Olympics has been prepared. In this regard, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department has prepared a complete action plan, which has been released today. The responsibility of organizing Chhattisgarhia Olympics to be held in six levels has been entrusted to Panchayat and Rural Development and Urban Administration and Development Department. Chhattisgarhia Olympics will start from 6th October 2022, which will end on 6th January 2023 at the state level. At present, 14 types of traditional sports have been included in the team and singles category. 

It is noteworthy that as per the vision of Chief Minister Mr. Baghel, initiative has been taken to encourage traditional sports activities in rural and urban areas in Chhattisgarh. On one hand, the participants from Chhattisgarhia Olympics will get a platform. At the same time, awareness about sports will increase in them and sportsmanship will develop. Panchayat and Rural Development Department in rural areas and Urban Administration and Development Department in urban areas have been made the nodal departments for organizing Chhattisgarhia Olympics.

There will be 14 types of games in two categories:

According to the guidelines and action plan issued regarding Chhattisgarhia Olympics, the traditional sports competitions of Chhattisgarh will be held in two categories. In this, party and single category have been determined in terms of sports disciplines. 14 types of traditional sports have been included in Chhattisgarhia Olympics 2022-23. In this, sports disciplines like Gilli Danda, Pittool, Sankhali, Langdi Run, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Towing and Banti (Kancha) have been included in this. At the same time, the sports mode of single category includes Billas, Fugdi, Gedi race, Bhanwara, 100 meter run and Long jump.

Events will be held at six levels from village club to state:

Six levels have been set in Chhattisgarhia Olympics. According to these levels there will be stages of sports competition. In this, the first level in the village will be of Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club. The second level is the zone, in which there will be a club consisting of 8 Rajiv Yuva Mitan clubs. Then at the development block / urban cluster level, district, division and lastly the state level sports competitions will be organized.

Various levels of events will be held on these dates:

The first Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club level event in Chhattisgarhia Olympics will be held from October 6 to October 11, 2022. At the same time, the zone level events will be played from October 15 to October 20, 2022. Games will be organized at the block level from October 27 to November 10. Competitions will be held at district level from November 17 to November 26. The event at the divisional level will be held from December 5 to December 14. At the state level, the last phase of Chhattisgarhia Olympics will be played from 28 December 2022 to 6 January 2023.

From children to the elderly will be able to take part:

The age group in Chhattisgarhia Olympics is divided into three categories. In this, the first category is up to the age of 18 years, then up to the age limit of 18-40 years, while the third category is for those above 40 years of age. The competition will have participants in both men’s and women’s categories.
