He said that through Gauthan and Godhan Nyay Yojana, work is being done to improve livestock, farming and livelihood by ensuring participation of villagers. This initiative of the Government of Chhattisgarh is the best bottom-up approach in the country. Mr. Rajan said that through this we can not only get better solution for farming and livelihood, but through this, due to indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture, the decreasing fertility of the land, the availability of food items. poisoning, Many problems like damage to the environment and global warming can be reduced to a great extent. Mr. Rajan said this during a visit to Adarsh Gauthan in village Navagaon (L) of Abhanpur block of Raipur district and income-oriented activities conducted by women’s groups there. On this occasion, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Pradeep Sharma, Prof. Rajeev Gowda and Ms. Yamini Iyer, Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Raipur, Mr. Ravi Mittal were with him.
Former RBI Governori Rajan Navagaon (L) also appreciated the management of livestock care, arrangement of free fodder and water, health check-up, treatment and vaccination of animals in Gothan. Mr. Rajan observed the income-oriented activities like organic manure production, mushroom production, mass vegetable production, oil distillation, fisheries, poultry, goat rearing etc., conducted by women groups in Gauthan. He said that the livelihood oriented activities conducted in the Gauthans have proved to be helpful in providing economic support to the villagers during Kovid-19. Under the Godhan Nyay Yojana, the purchase of cow dung in Gauthans for Rs 2 a kg and its use in the manufacture of vermi compost, super compost and farming is a commendable initiative. This will improve the fertility of the land as well as reduce the cost of agriculture and food poisoning.
Prof. Rajeev Gowda also appreciated the Gothan and Godhan Nyay scheme of the Government of Chhattisgarh and said that this initiative of the Government of Chhattisgarh is exemplary for other states of the country. Ms. Yamini Iyer appreciated the coordination of Gauthan and Godhan Nyay Yojana to provide better opportunities for livelihood and employment to rural women in the village itself.
Former RBI Governor Mr. Rajan, Prof. Mr. Rajeev Gowda, Ms. Yamini Iyer also visited the Multi Activity Center at Serikhedi, Raipur. It is being operated by Ujala Village Organization Serikhedi. In this center 28 types of quality eco-friendly herbal products are being manufactured by rural women. Rakhi manufacturing, mushroom products, gauge piece manufacturing, millets based bakery products, RO water bottling, sanitary pad packaging units, bio-flocculation units, solar dryers, soap manufacturing, cold storage etc. activities are being conducted here by women groups.
