The Supreme Court also allowed the government to take action against Himanshu Kumar. The government can now register a case against the petitioner.
The Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking a probe into the killing of tribals by security forces during anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh. Along with this, a fine of five lakh has been imposed on the petitioner Himanshu Kumar.
The Supreme Court also allowed the government to take action against Himanshu Kumar. The government can now register a case against the petitioner. He had filed a petition in 2009 alleging extrajudicial killing of tribals by security forces in Chhattisgarh. On this the Supreme Court had recorded the statements of the people, in which Kumar’s claim turned out to be false. Himanshu Kumar had demanded an independent inquiry into these alleged killings.
